The life-saving equipment on the aircraft is mainly a life jacket for passengers.
There are two colors for life jackets: yellow and red. Among them, red is used by the crew and yellow is used by passengers. Both colors are warning colors, making it easy for rescuers to find and distinguish in the vast ocean.
The life jacket is made of nylon material and the upper and lower airbags, which play the role of double insurance. There are two high-pressure gas cylinders on the left and right sides of the attachment. As long as the red handles on both sides are pulled separately, they can be automatically inflated within 2 seconds; the mouthpieces on both sides can be manually inflated to increase buoyancy. The power of the azimuth indicator is activated by sea water. The power supply can last for more than 12 hours and is easy to find at night. Some are also equipped with whistle (for calling), mirror (reflecting light), and so on.
Life jacket anti-theft system
Since July 1999, China Eastern Airlines has taken the lead in launching the aircraft life jacket anti-theft system, which will greatly curb theft.
The anti-theft system consists of five parts: the power supply unit, the transmitting antenna, the controller, the portable tester and the target block.
Among them, the transmitting antenna is installed near the entrance and exit door of the passenger, and the signal range can be adjusted. When the aircraft landed, the flight attendant opened the controller (forbidden to use during flight) and entered the work. Once someone took the life jacket and brought it near the hatch, the signal range could be adjusted. The function of the portable tester is to eliminate the alarm, as well as the target block for removing the life jacket.
