Known as the weathervane of the technological development trend of the international maritime industry, the 2019 China International Maritime Exhibition, the world's most influential and largest maritime professional exhibition of the year, will be held in Shanghai from December 3 to 6 this year.
The China International Maritime Exhibition was founded at the beginning of the reform and opening up. It is held in Shanghai at the end of every odd year and has been successfully held for 19 consecutive sessions. Over the past 40 years, the China International Maritime Exhibition has continued to grow and develop, participating in and witnessing the development of China's shipbuilding industry from backwardness to becoming a world shipbuilding power and building a shipbuilding power. As a bridge and link for China and the international maritime community to seek all-round and multi-level cooperation, and an important window for the international maritime community to understand China's shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment, shipping, ports and other industries, the China International Maritime Exhibition has played a positive role in promoting communication and cooperation between China and foreign countries in the fields of maritime technology, economic and trade cooperation, ship financing, safety insurance, regulations, and environmental protection.
After 40 years of development, the China International Maritime Exhibition has become one of the two largest and most influential maritime exhibitions in the world.
Since the beginning of this year, the growth of global shipping trade has further slowed down, and the international ship market is not optimistic. In the first half of 2019, the global new ship market transaction volume decreased by more than 50% year-on-year. However, thanks to the effective promotion of new technologies and new regulations, coupled with the positive stimulation of market adjustments and industrial integration on the ship and sea market, and the development potential of the Asia-Pacific market, this China International Maritime Exhibition has continued to develop gratifyingly. This exhibition is expected to attract more than 2,100 exhibitors and more than 65,000 professional visitors, and the exhibition area will exceed 90,000 square meters. Compared with the previous session, all three data are expected to increase and set a new record.
As of the end of July, 15 national and regional pavilions have been confirmed, namely Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, and Hong Kong and Taiwan, China. There are also independent exhibitors from about 30 other countries and regions participating in the exhibition, and almost all industry giants and well-known companies will appear at this exhibition.
As hot topics in the industry, smart shipping, luxury cruise ships, gas ships and green technology products will be the highlights of this China International Maritime Exhibition.
The theme of the Advanced Maritime Forum held at the same time as the exhibition is "Innovation, Intelligence and Integration" this year, focusing on smart shipping, cross-border and industrial chain integration, and striving to promote industry innovation. This forum will be held at the Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, adjacent to the exhibition hall from December 2 to 5. In addition to the "Theme Report", "Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering", "Shipping and Ports", "Maritime Finance and Law" and "Supporting Equipment Technology" special sessions, a special forum "Cruise Interior Decoration" will be added. Among them, the "Shipping and Ports" special session focuses on "Smart Shipping" and will invite well-known shipowners, port managers, logistics service providers, shipbuilding companies, system platform design units, data analysis companies, standard specification setters, international organizations and other relevant parties who have made contributions to smart shipping to jointly discuss the current situation, bottlenecks and future development of the industry. The "Supporting Equipment and Technology" special session will focus on "the application of smart-related technologies" and "cross-border technology integration". This forum intends to sort out the application and impact of "intelligence" on the entire industry chain from different links of the industry chain.
Cruise ship construction and interior decoration are another focus of this exhibition. In order to highlight the latter, this exhibition will set up a special interior decoration exhibition area in Hall N4 and build an experience area, including six major areas such as leisure and entertainment, theater, catering, cabins, decks and reception. At that time, major design and construction units, general contractors and subcontractors, classification societies, and supporting enterprises will organize signing, technical exchanges and business docking activities in this area.
In addition to the Advanced Maritime Forum, relevant maritime organizations and enterprises will also spontaneously host various forums, technical exchanges, product launches, signing ceremonies and award ceremonies during the exhibition, with the number of activities reaching hundreds.
